Stewart’s Caring Place Celebrates 20-Year Anniversary of “Hope Walk”

Hope Walk at Stewart's Caring Place

Akron, OH (March 4, 2025) – Stewart’s Caring Place is excited to announce the 20-year anniversary celebration of the Hope Walk on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with Dietra Goggins serving as honorary chair.

This inspiring community event has brought together families, friends, and supporters to walk in solidarity with those impacted by cancer in Akron for 20 years.

“The Hope Walk embodies the spirit of our community and serves as a reminder that no one has to walk alone on their cancer journey,” said Sarah Vojtek, president and CEO of Stewart’s Caring Place. “We’re grateful for the continued support from our community over the last 20 years that has enabled us to walk alongside those facing cancer.”

The Hope Walk is both a fundraiser and a celebration of hope, resilience, and the unwavering support that individuals and families navigating a cancer journey can find at Stewart’s Caring Place. To add to the excitement, the Hope Walk will be held on the same morning in two locations: at Stewart’s Caring Place in Fairlawn and at Sippo Lake Park in Canton.

“It’s awesome when the community comes together for a great cause,” said Dietra Goggins, a police officer with Metro RTA Transit Police Department, and an advocate in Akron for many years. “When those affected by cancer see all the smiling faces and support, it reminds them they are not alone. It’s like a big group hug.”
