Art blooms at Stewart’s Caring Place

‘In Bloom’

Stewart’s Caring Place, which has installed an art gallery at its new facility at 3501 Ridge Park Drive in Fairlawn, will open the free exhibit, “In Bloom” 5 to 8 p.m. Friday featuring fiber art by Chinese-American artist Katie Mongoven of Cleveland. More than a dozen of her embroideries will be displayed through Aug. 12.

The opening reception will include refreshments, tours and a presentation by Mongoven.

The gallery’s goal is to showcase local artists’ work while serving as a resource for the healing and health of art. Inspired by Dr. Stewart Surloff’s struggles and triumphs during his cancer journey, his wife, Mimi, created Stewart’s Caring Place in 2004 to provide other cancer patients, their families and caregivers with a relaxed and caring environment that offers supportive services and programs at no cost.
